Property for Sale in CadizIf you’re torn between living by the sea or in the heart of the countryside, Alcaidesa solves your problem at a stroke. You can see rolling green fields out of one window and Mediterranean sunsets through another - the best of both worlds under one roof!  To the south, the jagged Rock of Gibraltar looks close enough to touch; the coast of north Africa too, on a clear day. To the east is protected nature reserve and cattle graze on farmland at all points of the compass. Plus, if you’re a golf enthusiast, you can also catch the action at the only beach links course in southern Spain!

It’s so easy to get from A to B. Two access roads link Alcaidesa to the A7 coastal motorway, taking you to Gibraltar and the Atlantic Costa de la Luz in one direction, or the Mediterranean Costa del Sol (Marbella,Málaga city) in the other. At weekends, many Alcaidesa home owners prefer a more traditional kind of horsepower. They go riding on the resort’s long sandy beach, (shades of Malibu)!  It’s a wonderful walk, too, with sand between your toes all the way to Gibraltar or Sotogrande (approx. 12 kilometres in either direction). In Sotogrande you might bump into Prince Charles or his sons who go there to play polo!

With its sister course, Alcaidesa Heathland, that’s 36 holes of golf on the doorstep. There’s also a 72-bay driving range, putting green, bunkers and short game practice area and a swish clubhouse. The championship courses of San Roque and Valderrama (of Ryder Cup fame) are just across the headland – Tiger Woods could almost reach them with his driver!

As you pass through checkpoint Charlie (Alcaidesa’s security gates are manned around the clock), you’ll notice that the properties are very non-conformist. Elegant, family-sized forever homes neighbour traditional Andalusian pueblo houses, contemporary penthouses and apartments. Every community has its individual character and charm, often with private swimming pools, leisure  and sports amenities and landscaped gardens that somebody else looks after!

Built in the early 1990s as a joint venture between British developer Costain and Spain’s Banesto Bank, architectural control has achieved an ideal balance between residential areas and open green spaces. There’s a speed limit and very little traffic so Alcaidesa is very suitable for young families. With the acclaimed Sotogrande International School nearby, it’s a great place to put down roots if you’re thinking of more than a holiday home.

Alcaidesa Beach Alcaidesa has a small commercial centre with a mini-market, pharmacy, hairdressers, pizzeria, café and wine bar. For the big shop there are hypermarkets and general superstores10 minutes drive in either direction. And, with two hotels, a beach restaurant and an international mix of full-time residents as well as summer visitors, it doesn’t become a spooky ghost town out of season. Chiringuito Blanco, on Alcaidesa Beach, is the social hub year round, with indoor and outdoor restaurants and a chill-out lounge terrace. They do sunrise yoga classes, barbecues, happy hour, kids’ activities on Saturdays, Funky Sundays with live music, beach volleyball (join The Unstoppables, Alcaidesa’s own team) – there’s always something going on!
